Training to become a certified Meditation Teacher.
"During this 6 month immersion in the vibrant world of Instinctive Meditation®, we offer a potent mandala of environments designed to enrich your personal experience and develop your capacity as a teacher."
From Rolf:
"Dear Teachers,
I am writing to share with you an idea that I have had that I feel can make our next study group quite special. As part of my work with underserved communities I received a copy of The Power of Now from Eckhart Tolle’s Foundation. For the last two months I have studied this book in much the same I have studied the Yoga Sutras and the Buddha’s Satipatthana. I am finding it entirely rewarding to read a page or so of this book and then practice using the understanding of the human experience contained in it. It is a work that stands on its own. My experiences with the Ancient texts make many of the passages in The Power Now stand out in their true genius. I am proposing that we study The Power of Now and the Yoga Sutras concurrently. This will take a little longer. The study will last ten weeks, and each session will be 90 minutes so that we are able to practice together each week. There will also be specific practices that I will suggest as we move through the study that will support you in bringing these teachings off the page and into your lives."

A few of my favorites are highlighted below:
Tongue scraper- you can get stainless steel or copper. I personally prefer the stainless steel, like the one on the left from Banyan Botanicals. But if you prefer copper, Farm True sells copper tongue scrapers.
Oil pulling- The first time I tried oil pulling, I gagged! It was hard to get used to the new sensation. But now I can't start my day without it- It has become as much of my daily morning routine as brushing my teeth. To make the transition, I started using a neem mouthwash every morning. Then I found that I liked Banyan Botanicals Cinnamon Daily Swish the best, with their Mint as a close second. I really like their sample sizes, as they're great for when you are traveling. Farmtrue makes a smiliar "Happy Mouth Pulling Oil" that I am trying out.
Nasya- I'm a big fan of three different nasya products. "Clarity Nasya" from farmtrue, as well as nasysa oil and super nasya oil from Banyan Botanicals.
For garshana, or lymphatic detox dry brushing, I love my raw silk garshana gloves from Banyan, but not as much as my dry brush from Uma Oils. So luxurious! And so pretty too!
For facial products, I can't go a day (or night!) without my Banyan Botanicals Facial Oil (pictured below), made even better with my Kansa wand from Uma Oils. So yummy and delicious!

The skills of meditation are life skills – ways of engaging with the flow of thought, sensation, emotion, and instincts through our bodies and minds. The essence of all meditation skills is to be friendly toward yourself, toward life itself.
Many people have had poor experiences with meditation, feeling that they don't fit their preconceived ideas of what it takes to be a good meditator - or successful in meditation.
During his 56 years of meditation practice and over 50 years of teaching, Lorin has worked with many thousands of people to help them overcome the rigid paradigms that often lead them to give up on meditation. Through learning the skills of Instinctive Meditation you can develop a long term, enjoyable and life enriching meditation practice.
In this course, Lorin will guide you through experiencing a dozen or so beautiful skills that will help you overcome common obstacles to meditation.
IF YOU EVER FELT that you can’t meditate because you:
can’t make your mind blank
can’t sit still
have too many racing thoughts
can’t focus on your mantra, etc
then this program is for you!
“Yoga is a living tradition. Lorin is on the front lines as a meditation teacher, a champion of natural meditation, of awakening consciousness everywhere, in all places, in all times.”
Shiva Rea
Samudra School of Living Yoga
What will you Learn?
From acknowledging the natural rhythms of rest and excitement, to welcoming all of our parts, you will develop a practice that is welcoming of all of your experience.
In each class, Lorin will guide you in practicing the essential skills he’s been refining over 56 years. You'll explore a personal meditation, connecting with something you love, and learn to attend to your experience through these key skills.
By learning to live your meditation practice, the enlivened way you are experiencing the world, ripples out and touches not just those you interact with but continues off into the future.
You can be that person walking through the world, making it a little brighter!
Millions of people meditate, but many believe they are failing at it. In reality, meditation is working perfectly—you're just experiencing it differently than you expected.
Imagine if someone went for a strenuous workout, then later felt sore and thought, "I must have failed." Or if they took a hike, started sweating, and concluded, "I must not be good at hiking." Meditation is the same way.
When you relax into meditation, your body seizes the opportunity to heal, restore, and release emotions. You may feel unexpected sensations, deep peace, or even waves of laughter or tears. These are all natural.
As a meditation teacher for over 55 years, I constantly hear people think they have failed when, in fact, they are doing fine.
Meditation is working—you’re just experiencing sensations and emotions in a way you didn’t expect. And that’s exactly how it’s meant to be.
This 90-minute class is for you if you are struggling with:
Keeping focus and concentration during meditation
Feeling restless or uncomfortable
Have lots of thoughts and can't clear your mind
Can't find the time to meditate
Struggling with traditional meditation techniques

Formerly titled Basic EP Facilitation, this two-day workshop will teach participants to facilitate and design Reflective Structured Dialogue. You'll learn EP's tools to hold space for tough conversations in daily life, in your community, at your workplace, or during formal dialogue sessions.
The Essential Partners framework promotes connection and curiosity between those who see each other as enemies. For three decades, our unique approach has transformed conflicts across the country and the world—but the basic principles of the EP’s framework are applicable to local community issues, organizational development, congregations, and everyday conversations.
Intentional communication helps individuals, organizations, and communities build trust, enhance resilience, and engage in constructive conversations despite deeply-held differences of value, belief, opinion, or identity. This workshop is designed to help participants develop a powerful set of tools to achieve those goals and adapt them to meet the needs of their contexts.
Objectives:
To learn the theory and practice of EP’s Reflective Structured Dialogue framework;
To design and structure conversations to meet a group’s purposes and needs;
To build competence and confidence in facilitating through challenging moments;
To prepare participants and one’s self to deal with challenges in the room.
As a result of this two-day workshop, you will be equipped to:
Create a context for people to communicate about difficult or divisive topics;
Break destructive communication habits;
Design conversations, dialogues, or meetings with clear purpose, full participation, and a structure for moving forward;
Intervene to facilitate through rough spots in the conversation.
4-week course led by Madeline Klyne at the Cambridge Insight Meditation Center.
2,600 years ago, the Buddha considered the practice of skillful speech so important to our development that he made it one of the precepts and an essential step on the Eightfold Path to happiness. Skillful speech has four qualities:
It is always truthful.
It is uplifting, not malicious or unkind.
It is gentle, not crude or harsh.
It is moderate, not useless or meaningless.
Both Wise Speech and Wise Listening are mindfulness practices. They can be cultivated with a deeper awareness of our body, mind, thoughts, and emotions. We can learn to restrain our speech in difficult moments and to listen with our whole being, not just our ears. We learn to train the heart, inclining it towards wholesome states such as love, kindness, compassion and understanding. These skills are so needed in our everyday life, at home, at work, in our communities and in our world.
This program is appropriate for both new and experienced meditators of all ages and all levels of experience. Each session will include formal meditation practices, teachings, time for discussion, reflections, and questions. Homework between sessions is essential to this group. Everyone is welcome.
Step into the enchanting dance of light and darkness through the Celtic Wheel of the Year. Discover the Nordic concept of "Hygge," a celebration of nesting, coziness, and the simplicity of nature's beauty. In this session, we'll equip you with take-home practices to get snug, sleep deeply, and synchronize with winter's rhythm.
Uncover the wisdom of Nordic cultures that proclaim, "No bad weather, just bad clothing." Your cozy haven transforms into a launchpad for invigorating strolls through the winter landscape. Learn the art of being prepared for the outdoors, forging connections with trees, and embracing the enchantment of winter tracking.
Transport yourself to a time before electricity, when winter's power loomed large. Imagine the darkness, cold, and scarcity of food. Now, envision the transformative warmth of a crackling fire, providing solace, tranquility, and comfort. Session 3 explores the practice of fire as a doorway to peace, shared stories, and the camaraderie of crafting memories with clan brothers and sisters.

"Silent Day of Practice in Community" day-long meditation retreat with Narayan Helen Liebenson.
Since the time of the Buddha, gathering together in community and sitting and walking in silence has been considered essential for the maturing of wisdom and compassion. The simplicity and support of the retreat environment, whether online or in person in CIMC’s beautiful meditation hall, encourages a continuity of awareness. Retreats can help develop qualities such as confidence, perseverance, patience, and collectedness.
During this one-day retreat, although there will be verbal teachings throughout the day, silence and simplicity will be our teachers as well. The day will conclude with an invitation to discuss the experiences of the day. Both new and experienced practitioners are warmly welcome!
Led by Jay Oren Sofer, this 6-week course was co-sponsored by Cambridge Insight Meditation Center (CIMC) and offered through the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies (BCBS).
Communication sits at the heart of our lives – personally, professionally, and spiritually. This six-week program offers training in the foundations of an integrated approach to communication.
Drawing upon the Buddha’s teachings on the Noble Eightfold Path, mindfulness, and Right Speech, plus the modern disciplines of Nonviolent Communication and trauma healing, the curriculum offers concrete tools to hold one’s own while still hearing others and to engage effectively and efficiently in collaboration. Participants learn to:
Engage in effective dialogue
Feel more confident in conversation
Strengthen their capacities for empathy and resilience
Identify and stay focused on what really matters in any interaction
Through a combination of mindfulness practices, guided reflections, and interactive exercises, participants develop a stronger sense of presence, greater access to compassion, and more versatile, clearer communication. This program is appropriate for both experienced and newer students, therapists, school teachers, chaplains, and other helping professionals.
Diana Phillips graduated from the Rolf Institute in Boulder, Colorado in 2004. She completed her Rolfing Advanced Training certification in 2009. In addition to Rolfing, she has studied cranial sacral therapy, visceral manipulation, energy medicine and Rolf movement.
Diana approaches Rolfing with great respect for the individual’s ability to heal from past injuries and trauma by providing a safe environment and working in a gentle fashion. Diana believes that the Rolfing process is a cooperative effort between the practitioner and client. Her goal is not only to eliminate pain and restrictions, but also to support her clients in finding new possibilities in their bodies.
"The Art of Meditation" day-long retreat with Chas DiCapua: There are two main ways to practice Insight Meditation. The first is directing one’s attention to an “anchor," a main meditation object such as the sensations of breath or body. The other involves not directing one’s attention to any particular object and simply noticing what is being known at any given moment.
In this retreat, we will explore the differences between these two essential methods, which meditative qualities they support, and when it is more skillful to use one or the other, or some combination of the two. It is important for the Vipassana meditator to be clear about these things and facile in putting them into practice. This is the art of meditation.
In our day together, we will practice honing our skills through guided and silent meditation, Dharma teachings and group discussion. This retreat will be supportive for both beginning as well as more experienced meditators. Everyone is welcome.

An MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) and Mindful Self-Compassion workshop with Kristin Neff.
Self-compassion involves treating ourselves kindly, like we would a good friend we cared about. Rather than continually judging and evaluating ourselves, self- compassion involves generating kindness toward ourselves as imperfect humans, and learning to be present with the inevitable struggles of life with greater resilience. It motivates us to make needed changes in our lives not because we’re worthless or inadequate, but because we care about ourselves and want to lessen our suffering. This workshop will provide an introduction to self-compassion by the world's leading expert on the topic.
Through lecture, discussion, and experiential exercises, you will learn about self-compassion and gain practical skills to bring it into your daily life. You will learn how to support yourself in difficult moments; handle distressing emotions with greater ease; and motivate yourself with kindness rather than criticism.
This course is relevant for the general public as well as to practicing mental health professionals.
Specific Learning Objectives:
1. Identify the three key components of self-compassion
2. Describe key research that supports the benefits of self-compassion
3. Practice techniques to increase self-compassion in everyday life
4. Motivate yourself with kindness rather than self-criticism
In 2010, the Kripalu Institute for Extraordinary Living (IEL) was formed, and in collaboration with researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, launched groundbreaking research—which continues today—on the impact of yoga on physical and mental health. In 2017, the IEL evolved into RISE™, a Kripalu social-impact program that brings stress-resilience trainings to people in law enforcement, education, the healthcare and human services industries, and corporate workplaces.
RISE™ is leading the way by impacting individual and organizational performance through yoga and mindfulness-based practices. Each RISE program is specifically designed to support greater clarity and resilience, improved situational awareness, better decision making, work/life integration, and superior long-term performance for individuals and organizations.
For the past 10 years, both on and off the Kripalu campus, RISE has delivered this life-changing program to frontline providers and leadership in some of the most critical social institutions in North America: human services organizations, K–12 schools, correctional facilities, law enforcement, and healthcare.
